It just doesn't get geekier than this
6/26/2008
I have long since realized I am now part of the "older" computer generation. In the mid 80's there was a movie called "The Last Starfighter" and was one of the first movies to use large amounts of computer graphics for the movie. By today's standards they may not seem impressive, but for 1984 they were quite mind blowing.
In the film was a video game which Alex Rogan played and was used to select space pilot candidates. The video game was a central point to the movie and had a fair bit of air time. The game however never actually existed.
Someone has taken the video game and made it a real one available for download. It is really quite amazing, and truly one of the geekiest things (in a great way!) I have ever seen. Download
Insert Coins: The game does not come with any instructions. I haven't figured out how to simulate a coin insertion with the keyboard yet, but trying a lot of keys I eventually hit it. If I narrow it down I'll post it in the comments.
