Setting a proxy in Skype options should make Skype use the proxy, correct? Wrong!
It is not documented as such, and certainly there is nothing in the screen to suggest it, but Skype will only use the proxy settings if it fails to connect directly first. This is contradictory to other applications, and completely undesired.
If a user sets a proxy, the application should use it. There are many cases, even when a direct connection is available that a user would specify a proxy.
