There may be hope for inflight Internet after all
In the last blog I wrote about the fact that Boeing is discontinuing its Internet service which many airlines use. There may be hope after all though.
Airwise has written a feature
story on Connexion's demise. The important parts to note are:
- Discount carriers like JetBlue are still likely moving forward with other
services. Again the discount carriers end up offering us more than the so
called full service carriers.
- Lufthansa is already looking for a replacement service instead of just
dropping Internet access.
- Based on the details, the Connexion system was potentially overly complex
and cost prohibitive. However it is worth noting that the simpler system
mentioned likely does not work on trans oceanic flights as it is cellular
based.
